Officers and Traffic Diversion are Important in Resolving Congestion on Jalan TB Simatupang

Jakarta City Council Chairman, Khoirudin, responded to the traffic congestion on Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta.

Alternative route must have its signage

According to him, congestion occurs due to the high volume of vehicles that does not match the road capacity during the National Strategic Project (PSN).

"We strive hard to provide comfort for road users. However, the volume of vehicles does not match the width of the road. Hence, residents are very disturbed when repairs are done," he explained, Thursday (8/21).

Besides causing social harm, congestion also impacts psychological well-being and leads to fuel wastage. Therefore, they keep coordinating with various parties in the field to find solutions to ensure smooth traffic flow.

He even encouraged the police, Transportation Agency, and Satpol PP to work together to control the traffic flow.

"This is done for the comfort of road users. Despite the traffic is slow, it will gradually become less crowded. The important thing is no disturbances," he asserted.

Aside that, he also emphasized the importance of traffic diversion by using alternative roads, including the presence of signs and officers at intersections.

He added, this step is important to prevent new problems such as vehicles getting stuck or even prolonging congestion.

"Alternative route must have its signage. Not all roads can be passed by all vehicles. If someone gets stuck, it will actually cause severe congestion," he asserted.
